What is i-Code?

i-Code is an educational tangible and narrative coding solution, consisting of a series of concrete, manipulatable tiles and a tablet application. It is an engaging and exciting way to introduce coding into educational programming and to promote first-time interest in STEAM disciplines, giving children the opportunity to create, design and tell stories.

Through collaboration and the combination of fixed elements and virtual environments, i -Code introduces children to computational thinking and trains problem solving. In addition, it contributes to the development of logical-scientific thinking and, at the same time, artistic-expressive skills and relational skills necessary for teamwork.

Who is it intended for?

i-Code is designed for children aged 3 to 10. It is ideal for promoting forms of intelligent play, stimulating creativity and encouraging experimental activities typical of this age group: drawing, storytelling, small group work.

How does it work?

i-Code App Installation

Download i-Code directly from Google Play or the App Store, install the application on your tablet, activate the license received with the kit and the associated accounts on your first access.

Sequence acquisition and voice recording

Once the preparations are complete, it's time to go on stage, framing the cards with the camera of the tablet to make the characters move and record their voices! You can also add background music or a narrating voice!

Choice of backgrounds and characters

Children can acquire backgrounds and characters drawn on paper with the camera, or they can photograph their surroundings. Alternatively, the i-Code app offers a library of predefined art-quality backgrounds and characters.

Saving the story and uploading to the i-Code portal

After fixing all the details and correcting any errors, the project is automatically uploaded to the i-Code portal and all the related materials made (characters, backgrounds, footage) are available at all times!

Combining cards and programming the story

By combining the 43 kit cards and numerical parameters, they can then create a sequence of actions for each character in the story: go right, disappear, jump, and more.
